Excitement is building as the news that the inaugural sailing of the first Ritz Carlton Yacht came one step closer to reality with the launch of the vessel during a ceremony in Vigo, Spain. The floating was attended by most of the Ritz Carlton team, including CEO Douglas Prothero, as all were thrilled to see the brand’s first ship (which is still unnamed) take on water for the first time.
The ship is expected to sail 298 passengers in 149 suites, each with its own terrace. The lowest decks will be a series of duplex suites, with the lower levels designed as bedroom suites and the upper levels sporting terraces.
There will be a Ritz Carlton Spa onboard, as well.
The name is expected to be revealed in December and the ship will officially debut in 2020. Within 24 months of the ship’s launch, the Ritz brand expects to expand its fleet to three ships.
Suite reservations are being taken now for its first full season in 2020 and they include sailings to almost all corners of the world.
The line will open up its inaugural Caribbean season with a five-night, round-trip sailing from Fort Lauderdale (Feb. 1, 2020); a 10-night Fort Lauderdale to Barbados sailing (Feb. 5); a seven-night Barbados to Cartagena sailing (Feb. 15); and a 7-night Cartagena to Barbados sailing (Feb. 22). During the rest of the season, the line will journey to St. Lucia, San Juan, St. Maarten, Cozumel, and more.
From the Caribbean, the line will sail a transatlantic, 12-night itinerary from Barbados to Lisbon before kicking off its European season with an eight-night Lisbon to Palma de Mallorca sailing on Apr. 9, 2020. From there, Ritz-Carlton will sail seven-nights Valletta to Athens on Apr. 26; seven-nights Athens to Venice on May 3; 11-nights Venice to Rome on May 10; and an eight-night roundtrip to Rome on May 21.
The rest of the season rounds out with sailings from Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca; Palma de Mallorca to Lisbon; and Lisbon to Bordeaux.
On July 5, the line will kick off its Northern Europe season with a nine-night Bordeaux to London sailing. From there it will sail a nine-night sailing from London to Hamburg on July 14; a seven-night Hamburg to Copenhagen sailing on July 23; and a 10-night Copenhagen to Stockholm on Aug 9.
Then, it will head back to Copenhagen and journey to Edinburgh, Reykjavik, and Halifax.

The line will wrap up its inaugural year with a season in Canada and New England, starting in Halifax before sailing a 7-night itinerary to Boston on Sept. 26. It will then sail a 12-night itinerary to Montreal on Oct. 3; a 12-night itinerary back to Boston on Oct. 15; and a nine-night Boston to Nassau sailing on Oct. 27.
