(BBC) Lufthansa cancelled just under half of its long-haul flights planned for Tuesday after its pilots’ union called a strike. Lufthansa said it would operate around 90 out of 170 planned long-haul flights for today and expects to cancel hundreds of flights on Wednesday, when it has 1,350 short-haul flights planned. The strike, the 13th in 18 months, will affect both passenger and cargo flights. The action is part of a long-running dispute over pay, retirement benefits and cost cuts.
