Venture off the beaten path on this adventure exploring the amazing sites to be found in the jungles of Thailand and Cambodia. See Angkor Wat, the legendary complex built in the 12th century by the Khmer King Suryavarman II as a monument to the Hindu God Vishnu.
As you stroll through this world-famous religious site, you’ll receive a master class in the area’s fascinating heritage, learning the secrets behind the techniques used to design and carve Angkor’s iconic stone structures.
You’ll also visit the atmospheric Ta Prohm temple – an enchanting ruin engulfed by the snaking roots of silk-cotton trees and strangler figs, and the well-preserved ‘pink temple’ of Banteay Srei, which boasts an array of towers decorated with extraordinarily fine carvings. Unique for its (now dry) inner moat, the peaceful temple of Banteay Samré is also on the itinerary.
While in Bangkok you’ll have ample time to explore Thailand’s bustling capital. A mixture of the modern and the ancient, Bangkok has many unique cultural and culinary delights.
You’ll enjoy a whistlestop street eats tour by tuk-tuk, and a dinner cruise aboard the antique Manohra Rice Barge, as you float past the Grand Palace and Wat Arun all lit up after dark.
As an extra treat you’ll get to see Phare, the Cambodian Circus. Expect tight-rope walking, juggling, contortion, music and theatre, an all in one energetic showcase of Cambodian culture.
